Security Badge and $3,000 Stolen from Kristi Noem's Purse

A handbag belonging to Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, containing her passport, department security badge, and $3,000 in cash, was stolen on Sunday night at a restaurant in Washington, D.C., as confirmed by the department.

Ms. Noem also acknowledged the theft during the White House Easter Egg Roll on Monday morning.

While the department did not provide specific details, it confirmed information from a CNN article stating that Ms. Noem's bag also included her driver’s license, medication, apartment keys, and blank checks.

The department noted that “her entire family was in town including her children and grandchildren,” and that she was using the cash for family dinner, activities, and Easter gifts.

The Metropolitan Police Department in Washington referred inquiries to the Secret Service, which did not immediately respond to requests for more information.

Ms. Noem, who served as the Republican governor of South Dakota before her appointment to the Trump administration, has gained attention for her provocative social media posts, including a video from a Salvadoran prison where she was seen wearing an Immigration and Customs Enforcement cap and a Rolex watch.

As Homeland Security Secretary, Ms. Noem oversees a department responsible for national security, including border control, immigration, terrorism protection, and cybersecurity.

Agencies under her department include FEMA, the Coast Guard, and the Secret Service.
