Schumer Requests Documentation to Support Claim on DOGE Website

Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency has launched an online platform called "the Wall of Receipts" to substantiate its claims of having saved billions from the federal budget.

However, a significant receipt is notably absent from the documentation.

The department claims to have saved $318,310,328 by canceling a "request for proposal" issued by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) last year, which sought bids for a potential contract. Yet, the specific request has not been provided.

Despite inquiries from various sources, neither the White House nor the OPM has released the request.

On Tuesday, the Senate's leading Democrat, Chuck Schumer of New York, sent a letter to Charles Ezell, the acting director of OPM, asking for the release of the document and evidence of its cancellation.

In his letter, Schumer stated, "By failing to provide clear documentation and denying access to records surrounding this solicitation, O.P.M. has made it impossible to determine whether the cancellation of this proposal resulted in the savings DOGE has claimed. The public is left in the dark as to whether these savings are based on real, verifiable data."
