Congo Conducts Burial Services Following Rebel Attack

One of the deadliest battles in decades has occurred in the Democratic Republic of Congo, particularly following the recent fall of the city of Goma to the rebel group M23.

The International Red Cross reported that civilians have suffered significantly, with the death toll expected to rise as more bodies are discovered.

Concerns have been raised regarding potential backing for the rebels from Rwanda, a claim that the Rwandan government denies. This situation has led to fears that the conflict could escalate into a broader war involving neighboring countries and their allies.

Over the past 30 years, millions have died in Congo due to ethnic tensions and disputes over land and mineral resources. However, experts noted that the recent violence has resulted in an unusually high number of casualties within just a few days.
