Dominique Pelicot was convicted on Thursday of aggravated rape and other charges after admitting to drugging and raping his wife for nearly a decade and inviting numerous strangers to participate in the assaults. He received the maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
In addition to Pelicot, the court found 50 other defendants guilty, with the majority facing rape charges. The trial lasted four months and took place in Avignon.
The case has drawn significant attention due to its disturbing nature and the number of individuals involved.
