Israeli officials claim that they placed bombs in pagers that were sold to Hezbollah.

Israeli officials orchestrated an attack against Hezbollah by planting explosives in pagers that had been ordered from Taiwan, according to American and other officials familiar with the operation. The pagers, ordered by Hezbollah from the company Gold Apollo, were tampered with before reaching Lebanon. Explosive material was concealed next to the battery in each pager, and a remote trigger was embedded. The pagers received a message that appeared to be from Hezbollah's leadership but instead activated the explosives, resulting in casualties and injuries. Hezbollah has accused Israel of orchestrating the attack, while Israel has not officially commented on the incident. Independent cybersecurity experts have analyzed the attacks and confirmed that the explosions resulted from modified pagers. The attack targeted Hezbollah's communication system, which had been limited to reduce vulnerability to Israeli surveillance. The operation affected over 3,000 pagers distributed by Hezbollah in Lebanon, Iran, and Syria. The exact timeline of when the pagers were ordered and arrived in Lebanon remains unclear.
