Former CIA officer and FBI contractor, Alexander Ma, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for providing classified information to the Chinese government. His actions included confirming the identities of individuals of interest to Chinese intelligence and sharing a significant amount of national defense information. Ma admitted his guilt in a plea agreement and expressed remorse before sentencing. He had worked for the CIA and later as a part-time employee for the FBI, where he covertly gathered and transmitted sensitive documents to his Chinese handlers. In addition to his prison term, Ma must cooperate with US authorities for life. He will also serve five years of supervised release after his incarceration.
