The son of Spanish actor Rodolfo Sancho, Daniel Sancho Bronchalo, has been sentenced to life in prison by a court in Thailand for the murder and dismemberment of Colombian surgeon Edwin Arrieta Arteaga. The trial, which took place on the island of Koh Samui, gained international attention due to the involvement of a member of a prominent Spanish acting family and the gruesome nature of the crime in a popular tourist destination. The prosecution alleged that Sancho, a 30-year-old chef and social media personality, had met Arrieta during a full-moon party and subsequently murdered him, disposing of his body in a landfill and at sea. Sancho pleaded guilty to concealing the body but denied premeditated murder, claiming self-defense. His lawyers plan to appeal the decision, citing irregularities in the investigation. Despite the possibility of a death penalty, Sancho received a life sentence and was ordered to pay compensation to Arrieta's family. The victim's legal representatives expressed satisfaction with the verdict and hope that it will bring reflection on the impact of the crime. The Sancho family has vowed to continue fighting the decision.
