Despite facing criticism, he guided the team to impressive performances, including reaching the semifinals of the 2018 World Cup and the final of Euro 2020. After coming close to winning Euro 2024, he has decided to step down, leaving potential successors like Eddie Howe and Graham Potter in consideration.
