Finland has approved legislation to reject asylum seekers at the border.

Finland has passed a temporary bill allowing border agents to reject asylum seekers, escalating its dispute with Russia over migration. The legislation, in place for a year, permits halting asylum applications at the border and deporting migrants already in the country. Despite concerns over violating international law, the bill received strong public support. Finland accuses Russia of encouraging migrants to cross the border, aiming to disrupt national unity. The Council of Europe's commissioner for Human Rights warned against using national security as a carte blanche, while human rights groups caution that the bill could compromise Finland's reputation as a liberal, law-abiding nation.
