NATO plans to provide Ukraine with a pathway to membership during the Washington Summit.

NATO will offer Ukraine a new headquarters to coordinate military assistance at its 75th anniversary summit in Washington, signaling a long-term commitment to Ukraine's security. Instead of offering membership negotiations, the alliance will establish a mission in Germany to coordinate aid to Ukraine, aiming to demonstrate allied commitment and avoid dependence on the U.S. presidential election outcome. The mission, named NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine (NSATU), will streamline aid and training efforts, reduce duplications, and be based in Germany under NATO's auspices. This move aims to support Ukraine's defense without making NATO an active participant in the conflict. While NATO's position on membership negotiations will not change, the new mission is seen as a significant step in Ukraine's path to NATO membership.
