Belgian campus demonstrations about the conflict in Gaza have a unique approach.

Students at a Dutch-speaking university in Belgium have been protesting to sever ties with Israeli academia due to the conflict in Gaza. Modeled after U.S. campus protests, the demonstrations have been peaceful, attributed to a supportive political environment, proactive university leadership, and strict protest regulations. The university's rector has engaged with both pro-Palestinian and pro-Israeli students, allowing an encampment while enforcing stringent rules. The university is reviewing partnerships with Israeli institutions in response to student demands. While the protests have been peaceful on campus, there are concerns about antisemitism and Islamophobia in Belgium. The university insists on engaging in dialogue with critical voices in Israel rather than advocating a general academic boycott. Jewish students, although few in number, have expressed discomfort with some protest slogans and have faced instances of antisemitism on campus. Pro-Palestinian protesters emphasize that their goal is to end the university's complicity in what they label a genocide, not to spread hate.
