The United Nations report suggests that it might require 80 years to reconstruct all the homes destroyed in Gaza.

The United Nations report released on Thursday revealed that the reconstruction of homes destroyed by Israel's military offensive in the Gaza Strip may extend until the next century if the pace of rebuilding matches that of previous wars in 2014 and 2021. With approximately 370,000 homes damaged and 79,000 destroyed, the report projected that at the current pace, it would take 80 years to rebuild the destroyed homes. Even with an optimistic scenario of increased construction material, the process would still extend until 2040. The report also highlighted the significant socioeconomic impact on the Palestinian population, including a surge in unemployment and poverty rates across the occupied territories. The director of the U.N.D.P.'s regional bureau for Arab states emphasized the urgent need to clear debris and rebuild homes before any semblance of normalcy can be restored. The report concluded that the repercussions of the war will be enduring, affecting Palestinians for years to come.
