Norway's decision to recognize a Palestinian state holds particular significance due to its historical role in hosting the clandestine meetings that led to the Oslo Accords. Despite being a friend of Israel, Norway has strongly condemned Israel's military actions in Gaza and continued to support Palestinian refugees through funding UNRWA. The Oslo Accords, although initially promising, ultimately failed to establish lasting peace. Norway's Prime Minister emphasized that recognizing Palestine is an investment in achieving a two-state solution and urged other countries to do the same to reignite the peace process in the Middle East.
