Daily Dumpling: Bangkok, a large and polluted city, finally receives much-needed relief from the air quality.

For over 50 years, Thailand's state-owned tobacco monopoly operated a large cigarette production facility in Bangkok. However, the site has been transformed into a 102-acre green space, known as Benjakitti Park, featuring a mile-long elevated walkway, wetlands, thousands of trees, and recreational facilities. The park, which is twice the size of the original, was opened in 2022 to commemorate Queen Sirikit's 90th birthday. The project, led by the government and involving military assistance, has revitalized the congested city center, providing much-needed green space and a haven for wildlife. The park's design incorporates sustainable features, such as water-purifying wetlands and natural air-conditioning. This initiative represents a significant addition of parkland to densely populated Bangkok and has been well received by residents and visitors alike.
