Severe rainfall in Indonesia led to flash flooding and the movement of cold lava from a volcano, resulting in the deaths of at least 37 individuals. The heavy rain on Saturday caused volcanic materials to flow down Mount Marapi, leading to mudslides known as lahars. The overflow of a nearby river further exacerbated the situation. The disaster impacted four areas in western Sumatra, with nearly 200 houses submerged and 159 people evacuated. By Sunday night, 37 people had lost their lives, and 17 were reported missing.
