TSMC Will Receive $6.6 Billion to Bolster U.S. Chip Manufacturing

TSMC to Receive $6.6 Billion to Boost U.S. Chip Manufacturing The Biden administration will grant up to $6.6 billion to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company to support the construction of their first major U.S. hub in Phoenix. This aims to bring advanced semiconductor technology to the United States, with TSMC committed to building two plants at the site and increasing total investments in the U.S. to over $65 billion. The move is part of an effort to establish the U.S. as a leader in semiconductor manufacturing, with federal officials viewing it as vital for building a reliable domestic supply of semiconductors. The investment is expected to create thousands of direct manufacturing jobs and will also provide loans and tax credits to support the initiative. This development is seen as a significant step toward addressing national security concerns and reducing reliance on overseas chip production.
