Jazz at Lincoln Center’s New Season Includes Tribute to Bayard Rustin


Jazz at Lincoln Center recently unveiled its 2024-25 season, highlighting performances commemorating the 20th anniversary of Frederick P. Rose Hall and paying tribute to civil rights activist Bayard Rustin. The season, spanning from Sept. 19, 2024, to June 14, 2025, includes a diverse lineup, kicking off with Hot Jazz and Swing led by music director Loren Schoenberg. Various concerts will honor jazz history and feature Grammy-winning artists. Notable performances will include a celebration of Rustin by drummer and composer Bryan Carter, a focus on jazz pioneers, and exploration of midcentury jazz, as well as modern works by artists like Joanne Brackeen and Terence Blanchard. The season will also spotlight specific musicians, including Joshua Redman, Dianne Reeves, Monty Alexander, and Anat Cohen. The final performances directed by Wynton Marsalis will feature works by veteran band members.
