A tornado in Guangzhou, China killed five people and damaged numerous factory buildings. The tornado struck the Baiyun district and caused injuries to 33 people, along with hailstones falling in the city. The city, with 19 million people, has been experiencing heavy rains and flooding, leading to the evacuation of tens of thousands. The tornado damaged 141 factory buildings and resulted in search and rescue efforts. Despite concluding the search, officials warned of continued heavy rains and hazards. The city's history of flooding has led to efforts to improve resistance, including regulations for new buildings. This incident occurred amidst a visit by the U.S. Treasury Secretary and the recent Canton Fair trade exhibition.
