A Frozen Pond and a New Way to Experience an Ancient Jewish Ritual in Maine

"Maine Synagogue Creates Unique Mikvah Experience on Frozen Pond" Rabbi Rachel Isaacs led a group of volunteers in harvesting ice from a frozen pond in Maine to create a mikvah, a traditional Jewish bath, at Beth Israel Synagogue. The ice was transported to the synagogue, where it was used to fill the mikvah, marking a significant milestone for the small community. The project involved collaboration with Colby College students and highlighted the synagogue's efforts to be inclusive and welcoming to all.
