Prosecutors Say Sam Bankman-Fried Should Get 40 to 50 Years in Jail

Prosecutors are recommending a 40 to 50-year prison sentence for Sam Bankman-Fried, a cryptocurrency mogul convicted of fraud. His sentencing hearing is set for March 28, with a maximum possible penalty of 110 years. Bankman-Fried's lawyers argue for a sentence of no more than six and a half years. The collapse of his business, FTX, and his subsequent conviction were seen as a low point for the crypto world. Despite the industry's recovery, Bankman-Fried faces a potentially lengthy sentence, with his lawyers arguing against a 100-year recommendation. The judge will consider various factors, including Bankman-Fried's testimony during the trial.
