Microsoft Seeks to Dismiss Parts of Suit Filed by The New York Times

Microsoft is seeking to dismiss parts of a lawsuit filed by The New York Times, which accuses Microsoft and OpenAI of using its articles to train A.I. technologies without permission. Microsoft argues that their use of the articles to train chatbots does not supplant the market for news articles and is comparable to the legality of videocassette recorders. The lawsuit raises issues of copyright infringement and fair use of copyrighted material in training A.I. technologies.
