Adapted from Sufjan Stevens' beloved album, "Illinoise," a dance musical, is heading to Broadway next month. The show, a collaboration between choreographer Justin Peck and playwright Jackie Sibblies Drury, tells the story of young creatives sharing their lives around a campfire. The production's fast transfer from a sold-out run at the Park Avenue Armory to the St. James Theater reflects a desire to maintain the show's momentum. With a cast of acting dancers and vocalists, "Illinoise" aims to use dance to drive its narrative, much like past Tony-winning productions such as "Contact" and "Movin' Out." The Broadway run is produced by Orin Wolf, John Styles, David Binder, and Seaview.
