Gang Violence Pushes Haiti’s Health System to the Brink of Collapse

Haiti's healthcare system is on the verge of collapse due to escalating gang violence in the capital. Medical facilities are closed or operating at reduced capacity, making it difficult for people to access essential care. The situation is exacerbating an already fragile system, leading to shortages of supplies and staff. With hospitals and clinics being abandoned or looted, the most vulnerable, including pregnant women and those in need of urgent medical attention, are at risk. The violence has also forced healthcare providers to close or limit their services, further endangering the population.
