DeSantis Signs Social Media Bill Barring Accounts for Children Under 14

DeSantis has signed a new law in Florida that prohibits children under 14 from having social media accounts, making Florida the first state to impose such a restriction. The law also requires parental permission for 14- and 15-year-olds to have accounts. Governor DeSantis emphasized the need to protect children from the potential harms of social media and expressed the belief that parents should have greater control over their children's online activities. This represents a significant move in the effort to safeguard young people's mental health and safety on social media.
