Utah Bans D.E.I. Programs, Joining Other States

Utah has joined other states in banning diversity, equity, and inclusion (D.E.I.) programs. Governor Spencer Cox signed a bill that restricts such programs in educational institutions and government offices. The law prohibits programs with "diversity, equity and inclusion" in their name and those that assert meritocracy is inherently racist or sexist. This move reflects a broader national trend, with at least 59 bills introduced in over two dozen states and Congress to roll back diversity efforts. Governor Cox's support for the bill signals a political shift in Utah, as he had previously been seen as a moderate.
