The Dogs That Live Longest, by a Nose

New study of 600,000 British dogs from 150 breeds reveals that large and flat-faced breeds have shorter lifespans than smaller and long-snouted ones. Female dogs also live longer than males. The findings, published in Scientific Reports, may not apply to dogs outside Britain due to different breeding practices and gene pools. Further research is needed to understand the reasons behind breed-related differences in lifespan. This could lead to improvements in the lives of at-risk dog populations.
