The Dogs That Live Longest, by a Nose

New study of 600,000 British dogs from 150 breeds reveals that large and flat-faced breeds have shorter lifespans than smaller and longer-snouted ones. Females live slightly longer than males. The findings may not apply to dogs outside Britain due to different breeding practices and gene pools. Further research is needed to understand the reasons behind breed-related differences in lifespan, which could be due to genetic predispositions or other factors. This study provides an opportunity to improve the lives of at-risk dog populations.
