Recent discoveries in Saqqara have revealed three ancient funerary masks, over 1,800 years old, shedding light on the elaborate burial practices of ancient Egypt. The masks, designed to guide spirits into the afterlife, were found in cut-rock tombs and inside a Greco-Roman catacomb. These masks, made of clay and cartonnage, provide valuable insight into the cultural and religious practices of ancient Egyptians. This discovery contributes to our understanding of the significance of death masks in ancient Egyptian society.
