Synopsys, a major chip industry supplier in Silicon Valley, has agreed to acquire Ansys for $35 billion. The deal reflects changes in the tech sector, including a slowdown in hardware sales and the growing importance of artificial intelligence. This move comes after a $14 billion deal by Hewlett Packard Enterprise to purchase Juniper Networks earlier this month. Synopsys aims to accelerate the delivery of software for simulating and analyzing the interactions of multiple components in systems. Despite some opposition from Synopsys shareholders, the companies expect the deal to close in the first half of 2025.
