San Diego Storm Floods Roads and Closes Schools

San Diego was hit by heavy rain and flash flooding, leading to road closures and school shutdowns. The National Weather Service reported up to three inches of rain in three hours, causing the San Diego River to flood. The area received more rain in one day than during Tropical Storm Hilary last year. The storm caused power outages, communication loss, and flooding, prompting the city to transport homeless individuals to public gymnasiums. Sections of major freeways were closed due to flooding, and some residents even paddled kayaks down their streets to check on neighbors. Sandbags were offered at recreation centers across the city.
