Apple Expected to Remove a Health Feature From New Apple Watches

Apple is expected to remove the pulse rate detection feature from its upcoming Apple Watch Series 9 and Watch Ultra 2, following a ruling by the International Trade Commission. This decision comes after Apple lost a patent case related to its blood-oxygen measurement technology. The company sought permission to continue selling the devices after removing the infringing technology. While this change will not affect existing smartwatches, it represents a setback in Apple's efforts to expand the health features of its watches. Masimo, a medical technology company, had accused Apple of infringing on its patents related to pulse oximeter technology, and the appeals court is expected to make a ruling on the dispute this year.
